I am a composer studying film music on the Electronic and Produced Music course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
Originally from a small town in the Cotswolds, I grew up playing trumpet in the local brass band and other ensembles like the Gloucester Youth Jazz Orchestra (GYJO). This passion led me to pursue a career in composition, writing original scores in a variety of genres across film, animation and other media.
Since starting at Guildhall, I have been working on various projects across different types of media, including collaborating with students in animation and film at institutes such as CSM and RCA. Recent works include arranging for Adekunle Gold's live show at the Royal Festival Hall and writing organ music for the Union Chapel.
I have received mentoring from award-winning composers such as Rachel Portman, David Buckley and Stephen Endelman, culminating in recording live orchestral rescores of their original films.
I am passionate about both orchestral and electronic music and often aim to combine the two. For example, in the organ piece I challenged myself to create as much of the music as possible using samples taken from the mechanical sounds of the water pumps, leading me to explore all kinds of techniques in sound design to create textures combining with live organ for the concert.
Coming from a STEM background, I also love logical and technology-based work and have been pursuing this through coding my own sampler instrument based on recordings I took of my then-flatmate's cello (hopefully to be released for DecentSampler on 'Pianobook' shortly).
I like exploring and travelling to new places! Last year I spent some time travelling to different cities around the UK. Recently, I was lucky enough to go on a trip to China and loved every second.
I currently work as a steward for Barbican events and as an administrative assistant for Heidelberg Materials.
I enjoy cooking (badly) and playing hockey (even worse). I live in a flat in London with 2 friends.
